They were very shy when they arrived but by the end they were having so much fun that they did not want to go home. Coffee Afternoon February12th 2010Thank you to everyone who helped out and came to support our end of term Coffee Afternoon. We raised £184.57 for school funds. Well done! Christian Club Assembly January 18th 2010To begin the New Year Yvonne and Alex from the Christian Club came along to school this week to give us a wonderful assembly all about "New Year Resolution's". At the end of the assembly they left us with a list of things that we all can try and do this year at school. The Mercury comes to St. Chad's December 2009On Monday December 7th 2009 a photographer from the "Mercury" newspaper came to school to take photographs of the Christmas concert. To see these pictures get a copy of the "Mercury" on December 23rd. Christmas Fayre Friday November 13th 2009A very, very BIG thank you to all our helpers and those who came to our Christmas Fayre. It was a MAD afternoon but very enjoyable. Christmas Raffle raised £190 Christmas Fayre raised £328.22 GRAND TOTAL £518.22 Thank you very much Coffee Afternoon October 23rd 2009A very BIG THANK YOU to everyone who helped and came to our coffee afternoon. It was a great turn out with lots of yummy cakes. Coffee Afternoon raised £103.52
Limerick Day October 6th 2009On Tuesday October 6th we had a ‘Limerick Day’ to celebrate National Children’s Book Week (5-11 October).
Hope you like our Limericks. The children had a great time making them up. Wear Valley Mercury October 2nd 2009Duncan Leatherdale, a reporter from the Wear Valley Mercury visited our school on Friday October 2nd. He came to talk to the Reception children about starting school. Achievement Awards Ceremony July 2009On Tuesday July 21st we celebrated our annual achievement awards, given by our school governors. Each child in the school received a book in recognition of their achievement in a particular area of the curriculum. In additon, several children received individual trophies for personal achievements.
Sports Day July 2009We had a great day. Thank you for all the prayers for good weather. On Friday July 17th we did not expect Sports Day to go ahead as it did not stop raining all day. Monday, however, was lovely and sunny and not too hot. Thank you to all the mums and dads who ran in the obstacle race. It really made the afternoon an enjoyable event. Hope next year is as enjoyable. Results: LIONS 131 POINTS Tigers 93 points Pumas 86 points Panthers 84 points Cheetahs 70 points Leopards 67 points Well done everyone! Year 6 Leavers' Mass July 2009On Friday July 17th at 2.15pm Year 6 said Goodbye to all their friends and received a lovely book and pen from Fr. Rose as a momento of their time at St. Chad's. Year 6 it has been a great priviledge to have you at St. Chad's school and we wish you all the very best at your new schools and we do hope that you will come back and see us in the future. Good Bye July 2009The end of term was a sad time for staff and children as we said farewell to Mrs. Hodgson who is going on to pastures new as Deputy Head teacher at Woodhouse Close school. She has been at St. Chad's for 7 years. Mrs. Hodgson will be missed by everyone but I am sure that she will keep in touch. We wish her all the very best in her new school.
Healthy School Award Ceremony July 2009On Thursday 9th July 2009 Mrs. Gabriele and 3 children from St. Chad's school were invited to Rainton Meadows Arena along with 98 other schools to receive our Healthy School Plaque. The event began with lunch, then the childen were entertained by dancing, circus acts and Urban music. The event ended with the formal presentation of our plaque. We had a great time. Class 4 learn to play African DrumsClass 4 have been learning how to play the African drums. African Drumming 2008At the end of the summer term 2008 the Durham Music Service rang St. Chad’s school to see if they would be interested in taking part in “Wider Opportunities” a music programme that focuses on developing instrumental and musical skills through an exciting range of activities including singing, classroom percussion and movement, many of which cover National Curriculum requirements for Key Stage 2. Miss Connor chose “African Drumming” The children are having a wonderful time. Christmas Fayre December 12th 2008The school raised a handsome sum of £566.38 for our school building fund. Everyone had a great afternoon and our thanks go to everyone who came along. |
