Class 4 News Friday 11th December 2020

We have started reading ‘The Smelly Sprout’ in English. We have written agony aunty letters as the sprout and written advice back.

In History, we have been learning about Greek gods and goddesses.

In Art, we have created beautiful Christmas cards and decorations for our tree.

We have been comparing the Gospel accounts of the nativity story and thinking about how we can prepare for Jesus’ coming in RE.

Congratulations to Jessica who is our star this week for fantastic effort and attitude in PE.

We have been researching the life of Neil Armstrong this week. We have turned our research into a biography about him. We have also written detailed instructions on how to put on a space suit.

We have been investigating the effects of friction in Science and we have been continuing with our flipbooks in Art. We have been learning about the symbolism of the Advent Wreath in RE.

Class 4 News Friday 20th November 2020

Congratulations to Nelle who is our star this week for beautiful presentation, excellent contribution in lessons and fantastic effort with her work.

We have been looking at the moon landing this week. We have written recounts about the Apollo 11 mission and then turned them into newspaper articles. We have also interviewed the three astronauts.

As it has been anti-bullying week this week, we have written poems about being unique and made up our own verses for the ‘Odd Sock’s’ song.

We have also started to think about how we wait in hope for things.

Congratulations to Carla, our star of the week, for always putting maximum effort into all she does. Well done!

This week, we have been thinking about World War I and Remembrance Day. We have written beautiful narrative poems and emotive 5W poems about World War I. We have also written information leaflets about Remembrance Day.

In Art, we have been looking at how to use ovals to draw figures, particularly moving figures. In Science, we have been learning about gravity and Isaac Newton.

Congratulations to Viva-Rose who is our star this week for excellent effort and skills in Literacy. Well done!

We have based our writing this week around bonfire night. We have written instructions on how to stay safe and written balanced arguments about whether fireworks should be sold in shops.

We have been learning about the signs and symbols used in the Sacrament of Marriage.

We have created fabulous firework pictures using oil pastels and acrylic paints.

Congratulations to Scarlett who is our star of the week for her fantastic effort and work in Science. Well done!

What a great week we’ve had! We have written explanations of how Halloween began and written instructions on how to spot a real witch. We have also written spooky story openers! We’ve also been extremely busy making fantastic cam toys which they all should be extremely proud of!

All of Class 4 have been absolutely amazing this half term and as a treat, we had great fun making slime on Friday.

Congratulations to Samuel who is Mrs Reid’s star of the week for showing excellent stamina and sportsmanship during PE.

Congratulations to Evan who is Mrs Evans’ star of the week for excellent effort and care with his artwork.

Class 4 have worked extremely hard this week creating their own versions of the Disney Pixar short story ‘La Luna’. They have also produced amazing replicas of Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Starr Night’ using oil pastels. The children have learnt about time zones. They understand that in different countries across the world it is a different time to us and they can all confidently explain why.

Congratulations to Archie who was chosen by Mrs Reid as her star of the week for fantastic effort in rugby. Well done!

Congratulations to Esmie who was chosen by Mrs Evans as her star of the week for star of the week for fantasic effort and creativity with her work particularly in art and music. Well done!

This week, we have started to look at a story called ‘La Luna’. We have written character descriptions and dialogue.

On Friday, to celebrate World Mental Health Day, we thought about kindness and the effect this can have on our mental health. We came up with lots of random acts of kindness we can carry out. We also came up with some positive compliments for ourselves to celebrate how amazing we are!

Congratulations to Clara, our star of the week, for fantastic lines of poetry and artwork in RE. Well done!

This week, we have been writing poetry as Thursday was National Poetry Day. We have written fantastic personification and alliteration poems about the planets. We have also written excellent poems about autumn using a range of poetic devices.

We have enjoyed learning about the mezuzah and shema and have beautifully decorated some of our own.
