Healthy Eating at St Chad’s
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child states that: Every child has the right to nutritious food so that children can stay healthy (Article 24); Every child has the right to say what they think in all matters affecting them, and to have their views taken seriously (Article 12).
The current cost of a school dinner is £2.10 per day, unless your child is entitled to universal free school meals (in reception, year 1 and year 2) or free school meals. If you feel you child may be entitled to free school meals, please contact the school office.
In order to ensure that the kitchen can order the right amount of food we ask that parents give a weeks notice if they intend to change their child from school dinners to packed lunches or vice versa. If your child has a packed lunch please do not include sweets or fizzy drinks.
Children at St. Chad’s school are allowed to select their dinner choices from a 3 weekly menu which is changed every September and April.
We endeavour to encourage healthy eating within the school. To enable us to do this we offer free fruit to infant children. We also sell fruit at playtime. Fruit helps us to learn.
