Children’s Rights at St Chad’s
At St Chad’s we are working together to promote Children’s Rights as listed under the Articles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). Becoming a Rights Respecting School will support our children in becoming confident, independent, enthusiastic and creative learners within a caring, safe and supportive environment as cited in our mission statement.
A Rights Respecting School supports children in becoming global citizens and supports our belief that children achieve most when they feel an included and valued part of the decision making process.

Family Group Meetings
We had a lovely afternoon on Friday as children in their Family Groups of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John shared the things that they are grateful for. Ideas included: my brothers (!), being able to go to school, having a lovely family, God who cares for us, having my pets. Afterwards, Children shared anything that they would like to have help with and the suggestions by other children in their Family Group were eye opening (Article 6). What great ideas. Everyone then talked about our Mission Statement, Come as you are and walk with us, and what it means to us at St Chad’s. We took photographs of the children acting out what the Mission Statement means to them to share with the rest of our school community.
Plastic Free Schools
The Plastic Free Schools group have continued to be busy working at St Chad’s. This month they have done an assembly about stopping pollution. They did a play, some readings and a PowerPoint. The people who did it were; Isabel, Lewis, Zac, Lucy, Isla, Niamh and Thomas.
