How we support children/young people with SEN starting at our school
Each year the EYFS staff visit the children in their nurseries and discuss any needs with staff. Where necessary the Senco will also make contact to acquire any additional information. This helps with a smooth transition when starting school as we are aware of any needs and support required.
How we support children/young people with SEN moving between classes in our school
Staff communicate effectively to help ensure a smooth transition between classes and key stages. Time is allocated in staff meetings at the end of the school year to ensure support plans are shared and children’s needs are discussed. Children spend time in their next class on move up day and additional transition time can be arranged if needed.
How we support children/young people with SEN leaving our school
The children take part in transition days to become familiar with their new schools. The Senco works closely with parents and staff at the children’s new setting to ensure a smooth transition. Information, such as support plans and previous specialist advice, is passed on to the new school.
If you would like to discuss your SEND requirements in detail please contact the school to arrange an appointment.
